What a Recent Cat Show Taught Me About JamCat

After a busy and inspiring weekend at a recent cat show, I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes people truly connect with a brand like Jamcat and why events like these feel so special.

Although physically exhausting (anyone who has packed, travelled, unpacked and stood chatting for a day will understand), it was also one of those weekends that leaves you feeling genuinely encouraged. There’s something wonderful about being surrounded by people who completely understand the joy of cats, cosy homes, thoughtful gifts and beautiful little objects that make everyday life feel more personal.

What struck me most was the atmosphere. People weren’t rushing. They wanted to browse, chat, tell stories about their cats, ask questions about products and share why certain pieces caught their eye. It reminded me that, in a world of endless scrolling and mass-produced everything, people are still looking for connection and curation.

It got me thinking about what I want JamCat to be.

Not just an online shop, but a carefully curated space for people who genuinely love cats and beautiful things. A place where every product feels chosen with care — not overwhelming, not generic, not novelty for novelty’s sake.

One thing the cat show did brilliantly was knowing exactly what it was. It wasn’t trying to appeal to everyone. It welcomed people who already loved this world and created an experience around that shared interest. And honestly, I think there’s something powerful in that.

At JamCat, I’ve realised I don’t need thousands of random products or trends changing every week. What matters more is consistency, quality and personality. Finding pieces that feel playful but stylish. Quirky without being cliché. Gifts that people genuinely want to keep, display and give to someone they love.

The experience also reminded me how important presentation and atmosphere are. The products people responded to most weren’t always the loudest — often they were the thoughtful pieces styled beautifully, the items that made someone stop and smile.

And then there’s the simple art of caring.

The events that stay with people are usually the ones where they feel welcomed and looked after. Sometimes that’s just a friendly conversation, thoughtful packaging, a smooth shopping experience or helping someone choose the perfect gift for a fellow cat lover.

Running a small creative business means constantly learning, refining and figuring things out as you go. But weekends like this remind me why I started JamCat in the first place — to create something warm, creative and personal for people who love cats as much as I do.

So if you’ve supported JamCat, visited us at a show, shared kind words or bought something for yourself or someone else — thank you. It genuinely means the world, and I hope you’ll continue following along as JamCat grows.

Cheers

Orla
